Welcome to Parklands Primary School. We are a two form entry Primary school with over 400 pupils on roll. The school opened in 1967 but has since undergone several transformations, most recently when the transition was made from Lower to Primary and the school was extended and refurbished. Like most Northampton schools, the premises are managed by Amey and are very well cared for.
We have well equipped and attractive classrooms, a multi-purpose hall and Studio used for Dance, Drama, PE amd Music. Our IT suite and library are used well utilised by our pupils as are our extensive grounds comprising a sports field, two playgrounds, an adventure trail and large nature area. We have been successful in obtaining a Lottery grant earlier this year to refurbish the pond and this work is well underway with the next phase planned to introduce an outdoor classroom. Our Reception pupils have a large covered play area which is used all year round.
There are many opportunities for pupils on offer at school including a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Our sports and music groups enjoy success at both town and county events. We are a Royal and Derngate Youth Theatre hub and pupils will, for the first time this year, perform on the Royal Theatre stage.
We have a team of experienced staff supported by a fantastic governing body and brilliant PTA.
We believe that learning should be relevant and fun and provide exciting opportunities through a range of visits and visiting speakers. All year groups go out at least once a year and there are two residential opportunities (in Y4 and Y6).
Our calendar year is punctuated by a range of whole school events and we enjoy dress-up days, fund raising and a range of theatre companies.
Our last Ofsted inspection was in January 2013 and we are a "Good" school. We continually reflect on our work and have ambition to be "Outstanding".
